Traditional Wedding Cake

This weekend, I had a very last minute wedding. By last minute, I mean I met with the bride and groom a week before their big day! Eek! Luckily, I was available to make them their cake, and I was able to make a sweet couple very happy. :)

They were having a fairly small wedding, so they didn't need anything too big, but the bride wanted it to be as tall as possible. She wanted a traditional pillared cake, which usually isn't my cup of tea... but my brides get what my brides want! I put my own little spin on the picture she came to me with, and I have to say, I ended up liking it way more than I expected. Instead of the usual piped detail, I mimicked the same look using fondant pearls and fondant swags, all topped with some orchid bouquets.

Galinha Pintadinha

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm about to introduce you to the cutest foreign cartoon ever! It's Brazilian, it's in portuguese, its so insanely adorable, and it's almost hypnotizing!

No wonder it's so darn loved by the kiddos over there, right!? Apparently it's a very popular birthday party theme as well.  Now if that video wasn't adorable enough, here is it in cake for a little girl's first birthday!

Wait, wait, there's more! Matching cupcakes, of course!

The party mama also sent me this picture of their setup. Is she talented, or what!? I love seeing creative sweet tables like these, especially when my cakes are right in the middle of all this deliciousness!

Drumroll, Please

Happy Canada Day lovelies! Summer has officially taken over, and it's been really difficult to find time to blog. I thought this would be the perfect cake to get me back in the rhythm of things! ...
Ba dum tsss! Haha, lame, I know! I try...

A few weeks ago, I was asked to reproduce a snare drum in cake for Michael's 17th birthday, topped with two drumsticks. What guy wouldn't love this cake!? I know it's July, but while making this cake, I couldn't help but sing Little Drummer Boy the entire time. Pa rum pam pam pam! I hope I got it stuck in your heads too now ;) Enjoy!
