My New Airbrush!

I have the. best. parents. ever. For my birthday this year, I got a super fancy airbrush, and boy do I adore it! Over the past couple of weeks, I've had the constant urge to airbrush everything in sight. I've also been looking pretty sickly blowing purple out of my nose after inhaling plenty of the over spray... must start wearing a mask! That, and I need to figure out a way to stop my floors and walls from turning multicolor. Suggestions!?

I don't think you'll see a single cake of mine that isn't airbrushed for a little while. Airbrush ALL cakes! In case you didn't notice, I found ways to use my airbrush in my last cake too! (Tale as Old as Time) And then I made this one, where I used it to get that ombre effect...

So much fun! :D

Tale as Old as Time

I love anything that is Disney and even better, love recreating the movies and characters in cake. I was asked to make a Beauty and the Beast cake for a little girl, and was extremely thrilled! I had seen a beautiful design somewhere with a floating rose in a glass vase. I thought the design was brilliant and just had to make my own version of it!

I made a two-tier cake, separated by a glass vase with a floating sugar rose in it. The bottom tier had a few of the characters around it, along with the staircase from the castle.

The top tier was a starry sky, with golden accents from the room where they share a dance together to Mrs. Potts' song... best scene ever! The cake is then topped with sugar figurines of Belle and the Beast. I owe my boyfriend big time for Beast's head... mine turned out horribly, and he's just awesome like that!

Just look at this romantic couple! What a beautiful story about true love, instead of love at first sight <3

Leopard Print, Babies and Bling

Yes, a pretty unusual request for a baby shower cake! Instead of the usual baby blues and baby pinks, this client wanted a shiny gold, leopard print cake, topped off with three babies. Bling-tastic! :)

Picture Perfect

My dad is absolutely camera obsessed! He' takes a ton of pictures a day, capturing everything he possibly can, and then promptly posts it all on Facebook. He's always behind the camera at any given occasion, but it's not just any camera. He's taken over what was once my younger brother's camera, and shows no sign of  giving it back. He loves that thing!

So, for my dad's 60th birthday, there was no doubt as to what kind of cake I should make him. I made him a replica of his camera, out of cake, of course!

Around the bottom cake, I put a few pictures of my dad with all of us as kids.

And on the camera's screen, I put a picture of my parents from their trip to India. I also hand painted all the buttons on the camera!

Happy 60th birthday to my daddy!!!

Paisley Peacock

Peacock feathers are everywhere! On clothes, wedding decor, wedding dresses, and even on shoes!

A friend of mine recently introduced me to an insanely addictive website, where there is no shortage of peacock ideas. Pinterest is so dangerously time consuming, but so very fun! For this friend's birthday, I drove 7 hours away to Guelph to give her this peacock-inspired cake!
